I guess I should have known that I shouldn't go to the prom when the date I had originally had to break off the date because he was in the hospital in traction. My mom had made me go to my junior prom with a kid she liked because I had spent over $100 for my prom dress.
To make a long story short....
We went out to dinner first then we would go to the dance. On the way back from the restraunt, the car broke down on the highway in the middle of nowhere. It was pouring rain and I was afraid to stay in the car by myself. I walked with him back to the town to call someone to come and get us. He was dressed in his suit and I was in my lilac prom gown. No one at his house answered the phone so I called my parents collect. Luckily my dad was home and he drove to the next town to get us. We left his broken down car on the side of the road with a note and jumped in the car with my dad.
When I got home, my mom was a doll and ironed his and my clothes so we could make the last hour of the dance. I was thankful for my parent's help but I would have rather not gone to the dance then to have gone through all that I went through. I did not have my picture taken for that dance. I felt like a drowned rat and probably looked like it too.
